Arthur Shores made fellow to the National Academy of Neuropsychology reflecting his significant contribution to the field of neuropsychology.

Sue Meares has joined the Department of Psychology as a Lecturer in the Neuropsychology program. Sue completed her PhD examining predictors of postconcussion syndrome in hospitalised trauma patients with and without mild traumatic brain injury in 2009. She finished her training in clinical neuropsychology in 1998 and in clinical psychology in 1993.
She is an experienced clinical neuropsychologist working with elderly clients with degenerative disorders, with young people with first episode psychosis, and with individuals with mild to severe traumatic brain injury. She commissioned and managed the Macquarie University Mild Traumatic Brain Injury Clinic at Westmead Hospital from 2001 to 2006.
Currently, Sue is developing a research program examining the development of postconcussion syndrome and psychological illness following mild traumatic brain injury.
Additonally, she is involved in research examining the validation and clinical impact of the Abbreviated Westmead Post-traumatic Amnesia Scale, a brief measure of acute cognitive impairment following mild traumatic brain injury.

Dr Andrew Gardner, conferred with a Doctor of Psychology (Clinical Neuropsychology) on 24-Sep-2010, for a thesis entitled: The effect of sports-related concussion on neurocognitive function has been awarded the 2011 Outstanding Dissertation Award http://www.nanonline.org/NAN/Award/Award.aspx by the American National Academy of Neuropsychology (NAN).
The Primary Supervisor was A/Prof Arthur Shores. The associate Supervisor was Dr Jennifer Batchelor. This is all the more prestigious in that the 3 previous winners since inception of the award have all completed their PhDs at American Universities.
The award is valued at US$500 and carries the expectation that the winner presents his/her study at a poster session during the annual conference and submit the study for publication to ACN.
The results of the Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) rankings of Universities confirmed that Psychology at Macquarie is among the very top-ranked in the ountry. This is wonderful recognition of research excellence for Psychology at Macquarie University.
At the 2-digit Field of Research Code level, Psychology and Cognitive Science achieved the top ranking of 5. The national average was 2.5 and only UNSW and UWA matched us out of 31 ranked institutions. Even excluding cognitive science, Psychology at the 4-digit code level was ranked as 4, and only University of Melbourne, UWA and UNSW scored higher. The national average was 2.6.

Monique completed her PhD in 2010 examining group and organisational dissent. Since 2009, her key area of research has been psychological resilience. She has worked with the Australian Defence Force in the area of military psychological resilience wherein she developed and evaluated a pilot resilience training program for them.
In 2010, Monique was a scientific advisor on the evaluation of post-deployment resilience training for personnel returning from overseas operations. Furthermore, she has presented her work at several domestic and international conferences and has been recognised by the Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO) for her work in military psychological resilience training.
She is currently a chief investigator on a longitudinal study examining psychological resilience in the Australian Defence Force. The longitudinal investigation is anticipated to inform psychological resilience training and policies that impact mental health within the Australian Defence Force.
Research Interests:
Her primary area of research examines how organisations are able to foster psychological resilience in the workplace. This research investigates the effectiveness of resilience training programs and the ability of workplace characteristics to develop or erode the psychological resilience of their personnel.Researchers at Macquarie University are developing an innovative approach to helping people with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). The team at the eCentreClinic are exploring the use of internet-based treatments to provide people with OCD with a convenient, low-cost and effective alternative to face-to-face therapy.
A team of Macquarie University psychologists has developed a growing range of therapy programs that are now being delivered online through the University's new eCentreClinic.

Nick Titov has joined the Centre for Emotional Health and Department of Psychology as an Associate Professor, specialising in internet therapy. Until recently, Nick was the Director of the VirtualClinic, UNSW at St Vincent’s Hospital.
Nick undertook postgraduate training in New Zealand at the University of
Otago. He completed his Masters degree in 1996, his training as a
clinical psychologist in 1998, and his PhD in 1999. He is an experienced
clinical psychologist, initially specialising in working with elderly
clients and clients with neurological impairments, but is now specialising
in treating common mental disorders. Nick’s current research and clinical
interests include developing easy to use, clinically and cost-effective
education and treatment programs for mental disorders for use by both
clinicians and the public.
