Coursework Degrees

Introduction

Currently the Department offers four professional masters programs, a Master of Clinical Neuropsychology, a Master of Clinical Psychology and a Master of Organisational Psychology. All degrees have either full or provisional accreditation by the Australian Psychological Society and associated Colleges and satisfy the requirements for registration as a psychologist in New South Wales. All of the professional Masters courses contain core units in research methodology and psychological assessment.

The Department also offers the Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Psychology (PGDAP), which includes arrangements for supervision and satisfies the requirements for registration as a Psychologist in NSW.

The Department also offers a Certificate and Diploma in Organisational Behaviour. The Department also offers combined PhD and Professional Masters degrees in all three areas listed above, which can be taken over a four year period. Currently 36 students are enrolled in these programs. These 36 students together with 62 PhD students form a large PhD program in psychology. Every student has a supervisor and associate supervisor.

The Department also offers a Social Health program which includes three levels: Master, Postgraduate Diploma, and Postgraduate Certificate. Entry requirement for the Postgraduate Diploma and Postgraduate Certificate is a degree in a relevant discipline (eg Social Work, Nursing, Psychology) or other tertiary training deemed to be equivalent. Preference will be given to applicants who are currently working in an area relevant to social health. Direct entry into the Master of Social Health requires a degree in a relevant discipline AND evidence of previous research training (eg completion of a thesis or publication of a research paper). Otherwise, entry to the Master of Social Health will be via enrolment in the Postgraduate Diploma and opportunity to transfer to the Master on successful completion of the Diploma including a research methods unit.
