Online Survey: Do you experience cravings for alcohol?

CASP PhD student Kris Tulloch is investigating the role of craving on alcohol consumption of regular drinkers. Previous research has indicated that the way people think about their cravings may have an impact on the amount of alcohol people drink, and how well they are able to stop drinking. If you are 18 years or older and a regular drinker who experiences cravings for alcohol, you can help by completing this anonymous and confidential online survey. Online Survey: Measuring Beliefs About Life

PhD researcher, Lauren McLellan is investigating factors that may influence treatments for psychological distress.The aim of the study is to develop and validate a scale reflecting general beliefs about life. If you are 18 years or over you can help by completing a short anonymous and confidential online survey. Emotional Health Clinic
This anxiety research and treatment unit is connected to the Centre for Emotional Health at Macquarie University. Information and self help resources for anxiety disorders, including information about children and adolescents. Useful books available from this site are “Overcoming shyness and social phobia” and “Helping your anxious child”. Psychological treatment for anxiety problems is also available.

Centre for Emotional Health
The Centre for Emotional Health is a research centre that focuses on the understanding, treatment and prevention of anxiety, depression and related mental health problems. The CEH website provides information about current research projects being conducted.

The Clinical Research Unit for Anxiety & Depression
This unit is a collaboration between the University of New South Wales, St Vincent’s Hospital ( Sydney) and the WHO collaborating centre at the hospital. This site provides extensive information on anxiety disorders and depression and treatment success rates. Self help strategies such as learning to slow your breathing rate and problem solving skills are available. A self test can be taken to determine your level of anxiety or depression. Group programs and individual counselling available - click on ‘Clinic’ in the menu.

Beyond Blue
Beyondblue provides information about anxiety disorders. A national telephone help line is available and the site also lists doctors, psychologists and counsellors in your area.

APA Help Center
Provides information on social anxiety: causes, effects and treatment.
