The Centre for Elite Performance, Expertise, and Training (CEPET) was established in 2011 to support leading-edge research into the cognitive, motor, social, and emotional processes by which individuals acquire elite levels of expertise and performance skill. The outcomes of this research offer significant opportunities for a range of skilled performers, including concert-level pianists, Olympic athletes, medical practitioners, elite dancers, and leaders of large corporations.

CEPET provides a supportive environment for existing research and promotes new synergies in this emerging field. Core members include researchers from Psychology, MACCS, and Anthropology. The Macquarie University Sports & Athletic Centre – which supports Australia’s top competitive swimmers, rowers and coaches – is CEPET’s major research and community partner and a focus of research.
