The Centre for Elite Performance, Expertise, and Training (CEPET) was established in 2011 to support leading-edge research into the cognitive, motor, social, and emotional processes by which individuals acquire elite levels of expertise and performance skill.

The outcomes of this research offer significant opportunities for a range of skilled performers, including concert-level pianists, Olympic athletes, medical practitioners, elite dancers, and leaders of large corporations. CEPET is currently recognised as a university faculty research centre and is seeking university research centre status in 2015.

CEPET provides a supportive environment for existing research and promotes new synergies in this emerging field. Core members include researchers from Psychology, MACCS, and Anthropology.

The Macquarie University Sport and Aquatic Centre supports many of Australia’s elite student athletes through their Sport Scholarship program, and is CEPET’s major research and community partner and a focus of research.
